How to Use a dreambox Satellite Receiver

DirecTV and Dish Network are the leading satellite companies that provide satellite programming packages in the United States. In order to receive the required signal from the satellite, you must have a few things first. It is necessary to have a properly installed satellite dish. This dish must have the proper wires (coaxial cable) connected to it. These wires have to be run from the dish and joined to a satellite receiver. The receiver must then be attached to the television. Once this is complete, you must know how to use the satellite receiver to pick up and view satellite programming.




Instructions

Turn on your satellite receiver and television. Make sure your satellite remote is programmed for the brand of television you have. This way, you can eliminate the need to use the remote that came with it.

Click on the "Guide" button. Find this on the remote near the middle usually. It opens the satellite guide on the television screen. This lists all of the satellite channels and can be controlled with the remote.

Use the "Up" and "Down" arrow buttons to move up and down the channels shown on the satellite guide. This guide is completely controllable. Stop on anything that you find interesting.

Read about the available television programming. Notice that as you move the arrow, the information shown on the screen includes details about the precise channel you are on.

Push on it. This open the channel selected and closes the satellite guide.

Find programs shown in the future with the guide. Open the guide. Find the channel you want. Use the "Right" arrow key to move ahead in time. You will be able to access up to 2 weeks ahead. Use the "Left" arrow key to return to the present time.

Draw on the volume button to control the volume of the television. Input the exact number of a channel to access it. Use the off option to turn off the television and receiver.



Tips & Warnings
Read the manual that accompanied the receiver for any special features it has. Some satellite receivers have a built-in DVR that can be used to record, pause, stop, rewind and watch recorded programming. Some receivers can be programmed to start a specific show selected.
